Valeria Vera first joined Van Der Hout LLP in 2019 as a paralegal in the Firm’s litigation practice, and she returned to the Firm in October 2025 as the litigation fellow after graduating from UC Law San Francisco (formerly known as UC Hastings).
Throughout law school, Valeria participated in the Immigrants’ Rights Clinic, externed with the Immigration Unit at the San Francisco Public Defenders, and clerked at the Capital Central Unit of the California Supreme Court. Valeria volunteered with legal organizations in San Francisco, Texas, and Tijuana, Mexico, and completed over 170 hours of pro bono work through legal research, legal observation, Know-Your-Rights trainings, and client intakes at detention centers in New Mexico and Texas. Outside of the classroom and experiential learning, Valeria represented UC Law at the Hispanic National Bar Association’s (HNBA) Moot Court Competition, served as a senior editor for the UC Law Environmental Journal, earned a CALI Excellence for the Future Award, and was elected to serve as student body vice president.
In addition to practicing law, Valeria is an Executive Board Member for the National Lawyers Guild San Francisco Chapter and serves on the chapter’s Dinner Committee.
