Lauren Gibson has been practicing immigration law since 2000. She focuses on employment-based immigration, including temporary work visas and permanent residence. Ms. Gibson has represented large multinational and Fortune 500 companies in the biotechnology, information technology, analytics, telecommunications, architecture, construction, and financial services industries. She also represents universities, non-profits, individuals, and small employers. She is a strong advocate for her clients while maximizing value and minimizing risk.
Lauren partners closely with employers on immigration compliance, policy development, and program management. Her experience includes I-9 and LCA audits, representation with FDNS site visits and DOL investigations, conducting immigration trainings for stakeholders, advising on and helping resolve complex cases, high volume temporary and permanent residency petitions and applications, and developing content for and speaking at immigration webinars and informational meetings for clients.
Ms. Gibson enjoys working with individuals on family-based immigration petitions, permanent residency applications with USCIS and the US Consulates, and naturalization. She has experience with asylum applications and previously served as a pro bono mentor for the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights.
Ms. Gibson received her J.D. cum laude from UC Law San Francisco (previously UC Hastings) in 1998. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Latin American Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She began practicing immigration law at a prominent national immigration firm, where she later served as a partner for several years. She then served as Senior Counsel in the immigration department of a mid-size national law firm before joining Van Der Hout.
