E-Verify Updates EAD Revocation Guidance for Employers
E-Verify announced a new Status Change Report for E-Verify users to identify employees whose employment authorization was revoked after their parole was terminated by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). DHS continues to revoke employment authorization on a case-by-case basis and for classes of individuals, such as those who received parole through the Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans (CHNV) program.
On June 23, 2025, E-Verify published updated information outlining what E-Verify employers need to know about EAD revocations:
- • DHS directly notified certain individuals who were paroled into the United States that their parole was terminated and their parole-based EADs we revoked.
- • A new Status Change Report allows E-Verify employers or their employer agents to review their aggregated case data for any employees who presented an EAD for employment verification which has now been revoked by DHS. The report contains the document revocation date, case number, and A-number for each affected case. The data in this report will be regularly updated as DHS revokes EADs, and this report replaces the use of Case Status Alerts for EAD revocations.
- • Employers using an employer agent to interface with E-Verify are directed to contact their employer agent for information regarding generating and reviewing the report.
- • E-Verify employers must use Form I-9, Supplement B, to reverify each current employee whose EAD was revoked per the Status Change Report, or after an employee voluntarily discloses to the employer that their EAD has been revoked. All reverifications must be completed within a reasonable amount of time.
- • Employers are instructed not to create a new E-Verify case to accomplish reverification.
What is E-Verify?
E-Verify is an Internet-based system that compares information entered by an employer from an employee’s Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, to records available to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration (SSA) to confirm employment eligibility. E-Verify is administered by the SSA and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Enrollment in E-Verify is voluntary for most employers; however, it is required for certain federal contractors, under some state laws, and for employers seeking to employ students in F-1 STEM OPT status.
