Van Der Hout LLP

Information Update: COVID-19

At Van Der Hout LLP, we most value the health and safety of our clients and staff. We are mindful of the “Shelter in Place” order from the City and County of San Francisco issued on March 16, 2020, regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, and we are also continuing to service the important legal needs of our clients through remote work largely outside of our physical office. Because (at the moment) the federal courts, immigration courts and other government agencies remain open, and because our clients continue to have legal deadlines and legal needs in their immigration matters, our office continues to function due to the need to provide these essential services. During this time, at our physical office we will be maintain a core staff to address essential functions of the office, while the rest of the staff will be working remotely while continuing to provide the high quality legal work our clients have come to depend on.

If you are a current client and need to reach the firm about your case, please contact the case worker on your case, by email or phone (with a voicemail message which will be immediately forwarded to them), rather than coming into the physical office. It is likely that the case worker you need to see will not be at the office because they are working remotely. However, they will be able to return your call or email promptly and usually within 24 hours. We ask your understanding if occasionally they are not able to do so for 48 hours during the “shelter in place” period where remote working will be the norm for us and many others.

If you are not a current client, and would like to contact our office because you are in need of legal help, we remain open for business and will be happy to speak with you to set up a consultation which will most likely take place by phone or video conference. Please either call the office at 415 918 3000 and leave a message, or you can use the form on our “contact” page to send information confidentially to the office. Either way, a member of our staff will receive the message and get back to you promptly. Please be sure to leave both a phone number and email for fastest response.

We appreciate your understanding during this difficult time for all. We are all in an unprecedented and hopefully short-term situation, which has required the firm and our staff to significantly modify our business practices to accommodate the urgent reality of this public health crisis. We will continue to monitor the situation, make modifications as required, and provide excellent legal representation, as always. Thank you.
