
Adriana Contreras is an immigration attorney who joined Van Der Hout LLP after having practiced at an immigration law firm in Denver, Colorado. There, she represented immigrants in both detained and non-detained immigration proceedings, in front of USCIS, and the BIA. Prior to this, Adriana worked at non-profits in the Bay Area focusing on asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, VAWA, U visas, and other humanitarian forms of relief. Adriana also has experience working with youth in several capacities in the U.S., Spain, Peru, India, and Mexico. Adriana was raised in El Paso, Texas where she developed a passion for advocating for her transnational communities along the border. Her father's family is from Puebla, Mexico.
Adriana graduated from the James E. Rogers College of Law, at the University of Arizona in 2015. There, she was part of the International Law Journal and clerked at the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. She completed her Undergraduate degree at the University of New Mexico. At Van Der Hout, she focuses on complex immigration cases involving criminal convictions, family-based applications, waivers of inadmissibility, naturalization, U visas, VAWA and other applications.
