Judge Rules DACA is Unlawful and Suspends Approval of New Applications

A federal judge issued an order blocking new applications for DACA from being approved. The order, however, does not currently effect individuals whose applications have already been approved. Judge Andrew Hannan agreed with the groups of states that sued to end DACA and stated that DACA was illegally created by the former President Obama in 2012. “He said the government could continue to receive new applications to the program, as ordered by a federal judge in a separate case, but that it could not approve them.”
