Judah Lakin joined Van Der Hout, Brigagliano & Nightingale in September 2017. Prior to joining VBN, Judah spent a year working at Dolores Street Community Services defending immigrants in removal proceedings, and most recently clerked for the Honorable Richard A. Paez on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Judah graduated from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, in 2015. During law school, he participated in the Death Penalty Clinic, the Policy Advocacy Clinic, and the East Bay Community Law Center's Immigration Clinic. He also interned at the Bronx Defenders and Dolores Street Community Services.

Before attending law school, Judah was a secondary educator, where he primarily worked with students learning English. He spent eight years teaching high school students and coaching basketball and soccer. He is a published author and, in addition to his teaching, worked as an education consultant training teachers and administrators on how to better serve students learning English.

Judah graduated Magna Cum Laude from Brown University in 2004, earning a B.A. in History. Judah also graduated with honors from Rhode Island College earning a Masters in Education in Teaching English as a Second Language.

Judah's current practice includes removal proceedings and detention, family-based immigration, motions to reopen, and appeals. He specializes in the immigration consequences of criminal convictions as well as researching and briefing complex legal issues. Judah is fluent in Spanish, and is beginning to learn Punjabi.
